Update - The direction of World of Soul Motorcycle Community

A few messages have come my way inquiring about my lack of activity on the site. I am still here and busy with WOS than ever before.

I want to tell you that there is nothing like reaching out and being a source of encouragement to your brothers and sisters. We have the power to lift each other up to a new height and positive direction. As we do so, some will seek to push us back down and restrict our growth for their own selfish gain. These unfortunately will be from within our own ranks.

I have been working toward bringing forth some meaningful projects to WOS. They are as follows;

1. Ride for CHANGE…Ride for HOPE-Stop the Violence, an awareness campaign culminating with a motorcycle motorcade. The project promotes the use of alternative means to conflict resolution.

August 8, 2009 Ride for CHANGE…Ride for HOPE will make an appearance in Atlanta, Georgia. The destination will be the King Center for Non Violent Social CHANGE for presentation and ceremony at Dr. King’s place of rest.

2. R.U.S.H. – Riders United to Serve Humanity
Riders United to Serve Humanity is a national community service initiative…a collection of motorcyclist, clubs and motorcycle-related charitable organizations and action groups working to streamline the effectiveness of their community-oriented campaigns merging ideas and resources.

We challenge all riders and clubs to pledge to support R.U.S.H. and its initiatives.

The directors/leading contributors of the World of Soul Motorcycle Community are the initial members of R.U.S.H. used to help steer public interest and debate on the site.

This initiative is in harmony with President Obama’s Organizing for America campaign in our journey to CHANGE America.

2. WOS Membership Campaign
Invite a friend… Multiply the effort.

Considered to be among the lowest form of society, bikers have been likened to dirt. Bikers are people with the power to incite, unite, ignite and move into action. Therefore we enrich the soil…and fertilize the dirt to encourage the grass to grow. This is a grassroots campaign to create positive energy. Help increase the peace by inviting a friend.

3. Partnerships
Working to create strategic alliances with corporations, organizations and agencies.

If you believe that collectively we have the power and resolve to elevate our community, you are invited to maintain your membership at WOS. Otherwise, forthcoming are sites developed on the same platform as WOS that will enable you to demonstrate the lowest levels of debauchery and self-worth while promoting what appears to be glamorous. They will come with sponsors filled with “bling” and invitations (buy this liquor and the like) representing stagnation resulting in continued communal frustration.

Positive breeds positive…negative breeds negative. You will make the decision, the difference and direction of your communities.

For those that work an 8 to 5, think about it, take into consideration, you rarely meet the Presidents, CEO, CO, etc of your company especially if very large. Because more than likely they are constantly planning on making the company better and successful, making the employees happy, projecting yearly or future growth, etc. I say this to say if we don't hear from Money daily, I'm sure he's constantly thinking about us, keeping us happy, news ways to help us network and the future of WOS, it's growth and goals. Be blessed all and safe weekend.

I want to post your event from Atlanta on my blog. Please hit me up so I can chronicle your successes. It is important that we chronicle all of our events nationwide because we weren't successful at doing this until today. I am capturing past and present history, events and more on my blog of black bikers nationwide. Check out the blog and let me know what you think.

Our success is the deliverance of the message...The process is in the ride... How we ride.

1st thoughts: What are we doing to keep this goal alive? Ride for Change. Are we changing or are we doing something to help make a change away from violence?
Ride for Hope Is there really hope for a change & what we doing to give our youth a hope for this change?

Thanks Jane. You know those are good questions. At this point, we continue to organize and mobilize working within our motorcycle community by way of the Ride for CHANGE-Ride for HOPE project.

We brought our recent event to the King Center to give attention to Dr. King's approach to non violence and the six principles of non violence as printed on the reverse side of the event flyer. Our 84-page proposal outlining our project to the King Center was also submitted to Congressman Rush as well as Rev. Jackson and shortly thereafter he (Congressman Rush) drafted a measure to submit to congress, the "Conflict Resolution and Mediation Act of 2009." I can't say that we were responsible for the bill but I can say proudly that we were part of the conversation with his office to bring the issue to the forefront. Another proposal has been submitted to the King Center at their request which includes further dissemination of a deeper understanding of Dr. King's philosophy and teachings in which we intend to broadcast from WOS, pending their support and approval for which I have been attempting to follow up on both via phone and email. Equipping the motorcycle community with conflict resolution tools from Dr. King’s repertoire that can easily be made transferrable to the local communities at large is the premise of the proposal. I think this is critical in addressing the state of the African-American community because in listening to all of the recordings the King Center sent me and reading Dr. King’s autobiography I quickly saw that when you substituted the white oppressor from that era with a black suppressor from this error you have the same situation. That’s why in my comments from Dr. King’s crypt I make mention of a human rights movement…a struggle from within which takes us back to some very basic principles.

Rev. Jackson here in Chicago has been extremely supportive of our efforts and we look forward to reciprocating in advocating the advancement of PUSH initiatives namely PUSH/Excel, a program to provide scholarship funding for students to begin, continue and complete college. This proposed partnership also is subject to approval. In essence, "STOP THE VIOLENCE...SAVE THE CHILDREN" is the call as we give vital attention to the negative issue of violence and the positive direction to get these kids off the streets and into schools to help build a brighter future for the next generation. The PUSH/Excel program has been in existence since 1975. We talk a good game about doing good in the hood. So here lay an opportunity to support a cause by a service provider that has advocated on your behalf for decades.

Our initiative, Ride for CHANGE-Ride for HOPE calls for collective leadership in every region and a commitment to bind our resources on a united front to represent our desire for CHANGE in this regard. It is a tool used to continue the dialogue on issues significant to our communities. We have laid the foundation in Chicago. Atlanta experienced the successful short term organization and mobilization on a higher level with broad political support. We seek to not lose the momentum gained and build for wide-based support.

The fact is that our communities are going up in flames. A call to conscience is being made with the Ride for CHANGE-Ride for HOPE project. Our objective is to touch the conscience by providing an awareness campaign to evoke positive action.

With it, our faith can move us, our spirit improve us and our works can get the job done.

U may want to Change the date 8/8/2010 for the ride in ATL because most riders will be heading back home from the (both) Roundups during this time. So most will be just getting in or on their way home from the roundup's. Both Roundups end on 8/8/2010, something to think about my Brother.

Tim, That is the 09 date you are referring too.
