Ride for CHANGE-Ride for HOPE supporting PUSH Excel

Now is the time to get involved, as these are hard times for many organizations, yet the cost to provide programs are increasing as contributions decrease. Therefore, this year, we, the World of Soul Motorcycle Community have made a covenant to Sponsor-A-Student. For every one thousand dollars rose, one student can partake in this pivotal opportunity. A contribution in this regard answers YES to education and NO to incarceration by providing the outlet to new horizons for our youth.

All contributions will be tabulated and presented to PUSH Excel via oversized check on behalf of the World of Soul Motorcycle Community. In lieu of Paypal, a contribution via certified funds (Cashier's Check, Money Order, Bank Check) is encouraged. Make your contribution payable to: PUSH Excel. In the event your club or motorcycle related organization will step forward with a substantial contribution, please email or fax me a copy of the check you will be submitting as your pledge so that I will have an accurate account of what amount to indicate on the oversized check. Please submit your organization's pledge by March 20th. Preferably, contributions are to be hand delivered or mailed to the address below postmarked by March 20th.

We will be disconnecting the Paypal link on March 20th. We suggest only smaller donations be made via Paypal for convenience only. So please consider where applicable the Paypal link here; https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=PJJVRQY5VJRB2 to make a contribution.

Please remember that together all things are possible. We can do this...Together we can make a difference.

Please make your check payable to: PUSH Excel

Well, the snow certainly turned the school systems "topsy-turvy" - do we make up the days, do we forgive the days since the state declared a state of emergency...I vote we just forgive the days...spring break is the beginning of riding season!

I am a former full time teacher. I stopped teaching many years ago and joined the Army where I taught, and also did training development in which my educational background was essential. Two years ago I retired from the Fed. Gov. and now am a school based substitute. So I never really left the field and am involved still in education our children.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Just received the below-described info. Please pass it on to those you know who may be interested. Thanking you.

Harvard University Announcement

Harvard University announced that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families will pay no tuition. In making the announcement, Harvard's president Lawrence H.. Summers said,"When only ten percent of the students in elite higher education come from families in the lower half of the income distribution, we are not doing enough. We are not doing enough in bringing elite higher education to the lower half of the income distribution. "If you know of a family earning less than $60,000 a year with an honor student graduating from high school soon, Harvard University wants to pay the tuition. The prestigious university recently announced that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families can go to Harvard for free... no tuition and no student loans! To find out more about Harvard offering free tuition for families making less than $60,000 a year, visit Harvard's financial aid website at:

I am not a teacher but I joined this group because I am a professional engineer who is responsible for educatiing students on the Fluid Power Industry (Hydraulics) in hope that they someday become engineers. My company, Deltrol Fluid Products, along with the NFPA (National Fluid Power Association) sponsors a program to teach 8th grade stundents engineering problem solving techniques. Specifically, we host what is called the NFPA Stundent Challenge, where students are challeged to build a machine out of the materials we provide to simulate a hydraulic lifter. The teams are made up of 4 students, 2 males and 2 females. On challenge day the teams compete against each other and are judged by industry professionals. The teams are judged on their machine's construction, teamwork, interview questions and the pick and place challenge. The cost is only 20$ per team. The cost is low due to industry sponsorship. The last competition was held at Harper College. If anyone is interested, please go to the NFPA website and pick Student Challenge to get a better feel. Also e-mail me at mroyal@deltrolfluidproducts.com. The next competition will be in April with a workshop day (training and introduction) in March. You can also search Youtube "NFPA student challenge" to see the competitions.
After the competition the students expressed great interest in the engineering field. I look forward to hearing from some of you. It is a great opprotunity for kids to learn and have a good time.
